Multi-genre Project
What is a multi-genre paper/project?
- A multi-genre paper is a collection of pieces that are all related to a singular topic, but look at it from varying perspectives. It can contain many genres and subtopics, sometimes written in different voices, yet is still tied together in a completed piece.
Why is a multi-genre paper useful?
- Lets you explore events in your own life
- Offers an alternative to traditional forms of writing (essays)
- Lets you become the expert
- Broadens your horizons by allowing you the freedom to experiment with different genres
- Creates excitement in sharing (because you can’t be wrong)
- Allows expressive writing (with voice)
Things to remember:
- Multi-genre papers may have as many as 15-20 pieces in them, but as few at 5-6
- Multi-genre papers should have a “connecting thread.” Is there a genre that you could repeat throughout the course of your paper to show continuity?
